KITAHAMA in Osaka
During the Edo period, there were many Kura Yashiki (warehouses) of various domains in Nakanoshima, and they ran the clan by exchanging the rice they were paid as a land tax for money. Therefore, many exchange offices were established in Kitahama.
After the Meiji era, the Osaka Stock Exchange was established in Kitahama, and the exchange office started to operate banks and securities businesses, and Kitahama has greatly developed as a financial city.
When the Bank of Japan, Osaka Branch opened in 1882 (Meiji 15), Osaka boasted three times the industrial production value of Tokyo.
Currently, the Kitahama area is dotted with retro and fashionable Western-style buildings in addition to the Osaka Exchange, which is a majestic symbol, and it is a fun city to stroll around.
There are many fashionable cafes where you can spend an elegant time while looking out at the river, and it is a recommended sightseeing spot.
CAFÉ : & ISRAND
On sunny days, good to spend a leisurely time with having a drink in the terrace seat while seeing the nice view of Nakanoshima on the other side of the river. You can have alcohol with lunch in a daytime at the store.
CAFÉ : NORTHSHORE Bule
There are 1st floor and 2nd floor, and the interior and menu are different in each floor, so better that you check the menu before entering the store. This time, I chose the luxurious one on the 1st floor. The stylish blue sofa makes me feel well. On sunny days when it’s not too hot, I definitely recommend the terrace seats, it’s the best to have a graceful time with eating delicious sweets while seeing the nice view.
RESTAURANT : EL PONIENT
It is an authentic Spanish restaurant.
I ordered the A lunch set, a soup, a main and dessert. Paella also looks delicious.
I had a Gazpacho soup, grilled horse mackerel with ham and grape sauce, Banana cake, pudding, etc. It was a sophisticated taste!
You can dine while looking out at the river.
CAFÉ : GOKAN
The head shop is in this classical Western-style building of the Taisho era.
The shop sells a wide variety of sweets on the first floor of the luxurious stairwell.
The 2nd floor is a tea salon where you can spend an elegant time while eating tea and cake.
I had a mascarpone cake with lots of fruits. ^^
SOBA & Kaiseki-Ryori : DOSANJIN
During lunch hours, there will be a line of customers waiting to get in.
I ordered a citrus sudachi soba and conger eel tempura.
Sudachi soba has delicious flavors that comes from kombu seaweed and dried bonito. And the sourness of sudachi increases my appetite in hot summer. And tempura is crispy and fluffy taste!
